My contribution to Female Appreciation Month…

I wasn’t going to contribute to girliejones‘s FAM. Mainly because, musically, I am very challenged. I have a real variety of music I like, but I tend to like songs, or versions of songs, as opposed to particular artists. I don’t put a CD on and just listen to it, because I get sick of it after a couple of songs.

Also, for some reason, the majority of my favourite songs are by male artists.

However, I have spent the last couple of days introducing my parents to the joy that is youtube and this has resulted in me playing lots of the golden oldies and rediscovering an old favourite of mine.

So now I give you…The Andrews Sisters!

Growing up, I always loved these girls. “Chatanooga Choo Choo” and “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B” were favourites. (I also thought they sang “Tan shoes and Pink Shoelaces” but it turns out that was Dodie Stevens.) Although I didn’t get the gist of the words to “Rum and Coca Cola ” when I was little.

I loved this one:

And I never realised quite how much “Candyman” was like BWBBoCB…

ETA: Hmm…Not sure if these are showing up for anyone, coz I don’t think I have ever embedded a video before, but fingers crossed.
ETA: Oops – post was flocked…have opened it up now.
