Gaining Culture

Last night I took Tusk to see angriest‘s play “Cry Havoc”. We were supposed to go on Tuesday, but Tusk ended up having to work, so I had to reschedule.

I am so glad I did.

The play had been promoted as Shakespeare”s “Julius Caesar” meets “The West Wing”. I was expecting to enjoy it, and I was *hoping* Tusk would, because he really enjoyed TWW, but he was way out of his comfort zone, and very reserved, so I wasn’t sure how it’d go. He also got to meet girliejones and mynxii.

We both loved it.

The entire cast was great, and I was really impressed with Peter Clark (Marc, the President’s Chief-of-Staff), and Michael Lamont (Hank, the Press Secretary).
Then, in the second half, there is a scene with Michael Lamont that just had me captivated. It was amazing. Beautifully written and delivered with perfection and power! And when it finished, I was wiping away tears.

I only wish I had been able to see it Tuesday, because now Ratbag wants to see it and it finishes tomorrow night and he doesn’t have a free night.

Borrowing from Molly Meldrum – Do yourself a favour and go see it!

So congratulations to angriest and all the cast. You have every reason to be proud of an awesome work!
